Ms. Du joined Beijing East IP in 2007, with the professional background in signal and information processing. Ms. Du is well-versed in Chinese and Japanese patent laws and patent practices, and focuses her patent practice over a wide range of technologies, including electrical engineering, communications, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

Currently, Ms. Du is primarily involved in patent mining and landscape projects, patent specification preparation, pre-examination, prioritized examination, dealing with office actions (OA), appeals, invalidation actions, administrative litigation and patent infringement litigation. She also assists clients with the preparation of documents for patent application in Japan, patent stability analysis, infringement analysis, FTO investigations, EOU investigations, industry/ technology investigations, and general patent counseling.

Ms. Du has provided professional services to a wide array of domestic and international clients, including corporations, universities and research institutes in various sectors such as automobiles, batteries, communications, robotics, printing technology, display technology, and software.

Work Highlights

  • Filed a request for invalidation of a design related to a tripod for a gas stove on behalf of a client, successfully invalidating the design, and won the affirmation of the invalidation decision in administrative litigation.
  • Handled an invalidation case concerning a series of invention patents related to a blow molding machine on behalf of a Japanese client, and successfully maintained the validity of all patents in the series.
  • Successful invalidation of a utility model patent related to a film with handwriting function on behalf of a client. In this action we successfully invalidated the entire patent.
  • Filed a request for invalidation of a utility model patent related to a hydraulic steering device with electric steering on behalf of a client, and successfully invalidated the entire patent.
  • Filed a request for invalidation of a utility model patent related to a micromotor on behalf of a Taiwanese client, an in this action successfully invalidated the entire patent, and won an affirmation of the invalidation decision in administrative litigation.
  • Filed a request for invalidation of a utility model patent related to a separator based on gravity and magnetic fields on behalf of a client, and successfully partially invalidated the patent, fulfilling the client’s objectives.
  • Filed a request for invalidation of a utility model patent related to a solar cell exterior film on behalf of a client, and successfully partially invalidated the patent, fulfilling the client’s objectives.
