Ms. Liu is the manager of the Mechanical Department of East IP’s patent team. She joined the firm after graduating from the George Washington University with an L.L.M degree in IP law in 2003.

Ms. Liu works with a wide range of clients from around the world, including Fortune 500 corporations from the U.S., Japan and Europe. She supports clients in all stages of the patent life cycle, including drafting, prosecution, reexamination, invalidation and litigation.

Prior to joining East IP, Ms. Liu worked six years as a patent agent in China Patent Agent (HK) Ltd. Over the course of her 20 year career in the patent field, Ms. Liu has won various high-profile patent litigations, including patent infringement as well as invalidation cases.

Work Highlights

  • Successfully represented Seiko Epson Corporation against a compatible ink cartridge maker for patent infringement before the Beijing First Intermediate Court and the Beijing High Court. A permanent injunction was issued and damages RMB 320,000 were awardedMs.Liu also successfully defended Epson’s patent against the infringer’s validity challenge.
  • Successfully represented Milliken & Company against two Zhejiang companies for patent infringement before the Beijing Second Intermediate Court and the Beijing High Court. She also successfully represented TVC, the patentee against the infringer’s validity challenge, in both PRB procedings as well as subsequent administrative litigation.
  • Successfully represented Beijing JZTH in securing a declaration of non-infringement in an action asserted by Beijing Jerrat. This case was recognized as one of 50 model IP cases in 2013 selected by China’s Supreme People’s Court.
  • Represented Toyota in an administrative litigation concerning the validity of a design patent of a local company.
