Four East IP team members had the pleasure of attending the Leadership Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) from November 18 to November 21, 2025 in Hollywood, Florida, USA.
The meeting is invitation-only and intended as a platform to discuss research and advocacy work undertaken by the association. But it also provides the chance to catch up with clients and competitors to discuss developments in the law that impact on the community.
Issues discussed relevant to trademark practice in China included the new draft SAMR regulations that would facilitate the filing of administrative complaints against online sellers of counterfeits and other goods infringing trademark rights, the new willingness of Chinese courts to enforce US, UK and other foreign civil decisions against defendants in the PRC, the impending amendment to the PRC Trademark Law and new challenges in anti-counterfeiting work in China. Some of these developments are addressed in recent firm publications which are available here.
Our attendees at the Leadership Meeting included:
- Joe Simone, Group Co-Chair
- Jimmy Huang, Partner and Head of Trademarks
- James Lau, Partner
- Tom Treutler, Senior Consultant

East IP was also pleased to co-sponsor The OppositionTM live music event on November 18, one of the best-attended receptions during the conference. The musicians performing at this event are drawn from INTA member firms and includes players from East IP.
