Examiner at the TRAB, 2011 – 2016

As a trademark examiner at the TRAB, Mr. YIN has reviewed more than 5,000 trademark adjudication cases and participated in over 300 administrative litigation proceedings, winning awards for Excellent Examiner for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015.

Since joining in East IP since 2016, Mr. Yin has been responsible for trademark prosecution and litigation in China and overseas trademark matters for multinational companies and startup, such as CATL, BSH, Epson, among others.

Work Highlights

  • Represented CATL in a trademark invalidation case before the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and obtained a favorable ruling; the case was selected as one of CNIPA’s “Top Ten Typical Trademark Opposition and Invalidation Cases of 2025.”
  • Represented CATL in an administrative trademark invalidation lawsuit before the Beijing Intellectual Property Court and prevailed, successfully invalidating a malicious, preemptively registered trademark.
  • Represented Nuctech in an administrative trademark refusal review case before the Beijing High People’s Court and prevailed. The second-instance court overturned the decision of the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board and the judgment of the first-instance court, and the client’s trademark was approved for registration.
  • Represented Korean company Lock & Lock Co., Ltd. in administrative trademark invalidation lawsuits before the Beijing Intellectual Property Court and the Beijing High People’s Court, successfully invalidating a malicious, preemptively registered trademark.
  • Represented Japanese company NOK Corporation in a trademark unfair competition case before the Shanghai High People’s Court and prevailed. The court recognized NOK as a well-known trademark and awarded infringement compensation of RMB 1 million.
  • Represented Meitu, Inc. in an administrative trademark refusal review case before the Beijing High People’s Court and prevailed. The second-instance court overturned the decision of the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board and the judgment of the first-instance court, and the client’s trademark “美图” (Meitu) was approved for registration.
