Helen Tang\u2019s practice focuses on regional trademark prosecution work, strategic planning and management of international trademark portfolios; providing advice on protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, trademark oppositions and revocations; trademark audits, licensing and acquisitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen has represented multinational and Asia-based clients in a wide range of industries, including: computer (hardware, software); hotels; food & beverage; pet food; fashion; cosmetics; personal care products; Internet banking; entertainment (Internet games; animation); sports and leisure; pharmaceuticals; automotive; watch; electronics and industrial designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen previously served as a senior solicitor with the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Government and was closely involved in the drafting and passage of the current Hong Kong Trade Marks Ordinance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She graduated from the University of Melbourne obtaining an L.L.B. and B. Comm and was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales, and Victoria, Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen was the President of The Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners from 2011 to 2013 of which she remains a Council Member. She is presently a member of the Trade Marks Committee of the Asia Patent Attorneys Association (Hong Kong Group) and a member of the Licensing Executives Society of China, Hong Kong Sub-Chapter. Helen also served on the International Trademark Association\u2019s Commercialization of Brands Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen speaks fluent English and Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and Shanghainese).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Helen has been recognized as a leading practitioner since 2007, by publications such as IP Stars, World Trademark Review 1000, World IP Review, Chambers, Legal 500 and Asialaw Leading Lawyers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hong Kong trademark practice headed by Helen has been awarded the Hong Kong Trademark Prosecution Firm of the year by Asia IP Magazine in 2023, 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
